About
In 2006 I began an Internet Computing course at the University of Hull. Originally, this course was modelled around a Computer Science degree. However, in 2007, the creation of the SANM transformed the course in to a new media and technology focused course. This is where my experimentation of multimedia began – from video production to Flash animation.
A Brief History
I began freelancing in 2006, doing the odd project here and there between studies. However, it wasn’t until I received an email from a lecturer at the start of 2008 that things started to pick up. The email was an invitation to a day-long charity ‘codeathon’ in which 16 people (including myself) were tasked with creating two CMS driven websites for the charities ‘Friends of Royal Albert Park’ and ‘Scarborough Homeless and Support Services’. It was here that I met some developers from Save9. I got a business card, and then sought work experience for the upcoming summer. In May 2008 I began my web design career. Of course, there’s a lovely newspaper article about this event if you’re interested.
Present Day
Having graduated with a First Class Honours degree in July 2009, I continue working for Save9 as a web designer. My currently role involves being a part of client briefings, helping secure projects through creation of concepts, designing the layouts and graphics for both the company website and client websites, and building all of the websites in XHTML and CSS.
